California Avenue

The California Avenue district is bounded by El Camino Real, Park Boulevard, Sheridan and Cambridge avenues, near the Stanford campus.

This area is Palo Alto’s historic shopping district, established in 1855 as the town of Mayfield, and annexed to Palo Alto on July 6, 1925. The district offers a wide variety of retail shops, businesses, and housing.

The City of Palo Alto is undergoing a comprehensive Plan update. This model was created to be used as a base for developing land use alternatives for the area.
