San Francisco Topography Map

San Francisco is a city famous for its hills. Its sharply contrasting topography has made it famous.

This maps was created in ArcGIS, using data from the City of San Francisco. Golden Gate Park also clearly stands out, as do the the slopes of the numerous hills, including the prominent Twin Peaks in the middle of the city, Bernal Heights, and Potrero Hill, among others. It’s also interesting to see how the city’s grid was applied relentlessly throughout much of the city, no matter how steep the hills rise.
